Entering requisitions

The Requisition Entry portlet lets you create requisitions via JICS. When you do, your institution's ERP system is automatically updated with details about your requisition.

To enter a requisition:

  1. In the Requisition Entry portlet, click the Requisition Entry link, which is displayed just below the main portlet title. The system displays the Enter New Requisition screen.

  2. If you want the system to indicate that this requisition was entered on a day other than today, edit the date displayed in the Entered Date field.

  3. If appropriate, edit the date displayed in the Need By Date field. Note that the field defaults to one month from today.

  4. As appropriate, fill out any of the other fields that are displayed in the Basic Information portion of the screen.

  5. In the Item(s) Requested section of the screen, enter a quantity in the Quantity field and a price in the Unit Price field. The system automatically fills in the Total Price field, which is at the bottom of the screen.

  6. In the Charge To Account field, do one of the following:  ·) Enter the full number of the account that you want to charge or  ·) Click Select, then choose an account using the GL Account Selection screen. (For details, see Using the GL Account Selection screen.)

  7. As appropriate, fill out any of the other fields that are displayed in the Item(s) Requested portion of the screen.

  8. If you need to add additional items to the requisition, click Add Another Item. The system repositions your browser focus at the top of the screen but, lower on the page, adds a set of fields that you can use to describe the new item. Scroll down to the new fields and repeat steps 5 through 7 for the new item.

  9. Click Submit Requisition.
